– Get to know Zach –

My name is Zach Cheneweth.

I am a 21-year-old student currently pursuing my bachelor’s degree in Chattanooga, TN. I go to Southern Adventist University and I am studying for a Business management degree. I am in my fourth year of school and plan to graduate in May 2022.

I am a Seventh-Day Adventist Christian and worship on the Sabbath.

I was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas.

I have a twin sister, who also attends Southern Adventist University, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in nursing.

My parents work in healthcare and have had a major influence on my decision to pursue healthcare management.

My father is a physical therapist and my mother is a nurse practitioner

Lastly, I enjoy seeking opportunities than I can learn from and gain experience for my future.

Lets take a look at some of my strengths, according to a test provided by CliftonStrengths:

I am…

  • – Restorative: I love to solve problems
  • – a Developer: I see the potential in others
  • – Adaptable: I live in the moment
  • – Positive: I am generous with praise

I classify as INFJ (Introverted, Intuitive, Feelings, Judgement) on the Myer-Briggs Personalities composite. When you get down to it, I am a problem-solver and I like to take on challenges that will test my knowledge and experience. I am willing to work hard to make not only myself, but whatever I am doing, the best it can be. While serious, I have a laid-back and relaxed personality and often try to find and add humor and professionalism wherever I go.

Experience

I recently completed a summer internship at Texas Health Huguley Hospital working as a distribution tech in the material management department (June-August 2021).

Texas Health Huguley Hospital in Fort Worth, TX

Working as a distribution tech at Texas Health Huguley Hospital provided an opportunity for me to quickly develop ideas and learn how to work as a team. I spent most of my summer internship working in the supply chain warehouse at a relatively large hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. My job was to spend time with each and every individual that worked in the warehouse and learn what they did on a day to day basis. As I was thrown into the loop with the team in the warehouse, I began to pick up on more activities and was encouraged by others around me to learn the basics of how a hospital supply chain works.

I was responsible for the supply replenishment process of par locations; this includes straightening, counting, picking, and stocking supplies for specific departments all over the hospital and completing any paperwork or computer software tasks needed to account for inventory movement. I also served as a representative of supply chain to clinicians in their assigned areas.

I took on a project during my internship where I was held responsible for supplying a brand new floor added onto the hospital. I assembled the shelving for the supply stock room of that floor and I discussed with department executives appropriate par levels for resupplying medical supplies. I also spoke with executive officers who taught me about revenue cycles and how the hospital functioned on the business side of things.

Overall, I feel like this past job opportunity was an amazing learning experience and helped me learn so much about materials management. I am very thankful for everyone that helped me and guided me in the right direction this summer to become successful.
